The 4-H projects are over, record books submitted; now there's time to reminisce. This was Gingham's second year. Of the five projects she took, three were repeats from last year. Citizenship and Quilting were new. Here are some highlights from her year:
In Citizenship project she and another member ran a mock election. It coincided with harvest celebration, hence the prairie dress.
Gingham is a cowgirl at heart. She loved her horse project. She studied parts of the horse and the saddle, horse grooming, how to catch and halter a horse, then took the Horse Achievement test in April. We learned at the last minute that she had to wear a long-sleeve button-down shirt. She had none, but was fortunate to have a friend from whom she could borrow a shirt. A PINK shirt. Must've been a blue moon that night.
She enjoyed quilting, and wants to take the quilting project again next year. Unfortunately, our sewing machine isn't up to quilting snuff and jammed so frequently that her teacher took pity on her and brought an extra Husqvarna of hers for Gingham to use. We'll have to see if a new and better sewing machine is in our budget before she signs up again. 
Beading is Gingham's favorite project. She worked long and hard on this necklace. Working with seed beads make me cross-eyed, but she delights in them.
This is her second year in entomology, another of her delights. She's been enthralled with the bug world since her toddler years. The entomology leader is only 15, but a very gifted teacher and bug enthusiast. However, I really could've done without the jar of fruit flies Gingham came home with after her last class.
