Calico was especially anxious to do the Goldfish Toss.
She won two goldfish at the Carnival last year. Unfortunately they were short-lived; their graves are marked with a Calico-made headstone in our picture garden. Her greatest joy of the day was winning a new fish to take their place in the fishbowl on her dresser.
Gingham headed to the baseball throw. She has a strong arm and good aim. Here's a close-up of her pitch:
Bullseye! It's fun to spin, even if you don't win:
Gingham got a kick out of the dunk tank. She stood by and laughed and laughed. She refused to throw, but loved seeing other kids hit the mark and drench the good-humored guy in the tub.
Second only to the goldfish on Calico's wish list was a snow cone. Check that off, too.
Gingham gave the football throw a try, but found the football less cooperative than the baseball.
Calico impressed the fellow supervising the B.B. gun safari booth. He handed her the two targets she'd used, each with bull's-eyes, and told her to "go show somebody."
I overheard someone remark that about $8,000 was made for the two charities supported this year: Agape Childrens Ministry and Seeds in His Garden. A successful day.
One sad note: On Sunday morning we heard a crash from upstairs. Beside the dresser we found one large pool of water, one empty fishbowl, one contentedly purring cat, but no fish. Poor Calico hadn't even named it yet.
Well, third time's a charm. Guess we'll be back at the Goldfish throw again next year....
