When the girls were older, I searched in vain for a Bible curriculum I liked, and ended up creating a fairly generic template which has served us well for a few years. I complete a form of my own which the girls usually mimic, however Gingham now, at 11, often completes hers before me. She's usually first to finish her illustration as well. Calico, 9, is still following our pattern and, as drawing is not a favorite of hers, sometimes doesn't finish a sketch. She always contributes to our discussion and loves to read the Bible.
Here's how we use the forms:
After reading a passage together, usually alternating paragraphs, we discuss which of the given themes of the book we felt were reflected and check the appropriate boxes. This gives us an easy starting place for discussion. We have a library of Bible helps which we turn to for further information.
We add notes and a simple illustration.
Matthew was the first book for which we used this template. Our notes usually were a summary of the events of the passage.
